Cenkaetaya Fix: make your own 4 to 8 pin motherboard power connector

If you you only have a power supply with 1 4pin connector, it is possible to make it run a motherboard that requires an 8pin connector. To do this you need to make your own 8, or 2×4 port connector piece. I did this by shaving down an old power supplies 4 pin end tip, and wiring it to the current power supply. You just have to make sure the wires match up in color with yours, this way you are using the same amount of power. After doing this we managed to get the motherboard running and had no problems.

@mathias921 hey i think only 1 will plug in, if you try they have little groves. The motherboards these days are made idiot proof, if you can plug it in, it will probably work.

Hi!

My motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R X58 S-1366 ATX) and my PSU
(CORSAIR TX 750W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V) will they work togheter?

I know there is an 8-pin motherboard connector on it… but it says 1x ATX12V 2.2 / 1x EPS12V, like if they were in two peaces?

Does this mean I only have to plug in one of them (which one) or do I need them both?

Thanks in advance.

@Kexev nope, my friend is still using this plug today.

@cenkaetaya1 just found out the other day that you can get them by just looking up a 12v 4 pin or p4… the image will show you one end being 8 and the other being 4. Took me days to figure out you dont NEED to get an adapter or anything like that

@SignalLost730 i do not know where you can get one, but if you can find a 4 pin end tip, such as from another old power supply, you can get cut the wires and make them fit the 4 pin one to make it work in the similar fashion that i did in my video.

I’ve got a question… I got a new mobo today, hooked it up to the PSU, but there’s one problem. My PSU has 8 pin and the mobo connector has 8 pin as well but the mobo requires 4 pins only. It doesn’t break into a 4+4 (and i’ve looked all damn day for a place with this config), and i can’t just push in 4 of the 8 pins because there’s stuff on the mobo that’s in the way.

Where can I get a cable that fits my 8 pin PSU connection, where the other end is either 4 pin or 4+4? can only find 4 to 8

Wanna say something?
