Do not worry, NONE of your personal settings or files will be erased, just follow the instructions in the video above and all will be fine. I bought a cell battery for £1 and replaced it myself and my computer is working well – on broadband internet etc. Do not pay a technician to do what you can do yourself. If I can do it anyone can!
BY taking out this battery please take in mind that your also erasing your CMOS Setting made by your computers BIOS settings, If you remove this battery configurations your computer has made to fit your need have now been erased.
Elow I have a problem in my computer about cmos error default load some forum said that you have to change the cmos battery then my question is it will work or not
will this make the computer run louder
Everything works fine now. Thanks again!
you’re welcome.
Thanks for showing me that I can do this. First thing tomorrow I’m going to change the battery on my computer.
hey, i have the same gateway computer as yours but any chance know were i can find the power supply? buy the way i xp pro on it.
If you get your hands on an XP disk, you can boot it up and install it… I did it with an old HP Vectra from ’98.
Thank you!
Hey there, thanks for this video, I have an old crock of a PC and the time and date had gone back in time.
You gave me the know how and confidence to change the battery for myself (at the grand cost of £1.00!!) instead of paying a technician to do it. Cheers, you’re a star!
lol another side note, for all windows you may need to update or patch the registry for the new DST rules (unless you live in Arizona lol.) Just google “windows dst fix”.
Success! Now if your really picky about the time, since ANY clock will drift from time to time regardless, you could even use an app for old windows 98 (NIST Time Client) to keep the clock accurate to the microsecond. That capability exists out of box with post NT windows too. (2000, XP, Vi$ta)
Ok ill try to change the battery coz everytime i boot i need to set up the date and time
You’re welcome.
hi thank you so much man. its fixed. i pulled out the CMOS battery and it stuck it in after like a min. it worked!. my pc booted up etc fine. thanks
See if you can Google your motherboard for an owners manual.
Try unplugging the computer from the wall and pop out the CMOS battery for a while and put it back in.
Or find the BIOS reset button (push it in) or jumper (move it over one pin then move it back). I think that you would have to press motherboard reset while its on. Once again please consult the manual specifically for your mother board for the reset procedure before doing anything.
Hey man i really need some help. how do i reset my motherboard. there is a reset button on it but i dont know if ive to press it when the machine is on or off.

man its already 2010! you still using windows 98 ^_^!
