Replacing faulty latop screen back lighting componet the invertor which powers the white light at the back of the laptop screen so that the display is made visible to the human eye.
you dont tell about hp g71-340us screens that hide the bottom screws sp you cant get at them,,so you cant change ascreen at all,,you dont talk about that do you idiot
thanks for the lession. it was alot of help. i replaced my screen on my thinkpad. cause it was dim. so i put in new screen. mailed to my family. they got it today saying its dark. T20 so i guess the backlight is bad ? they try LN key and sun key didnt help.
@siegkdash the tolerance are rather tight and would not fit your laptop. Also you may not be able to put the front cover back on .Also the connections on the ivertor may not fit wahton the laptop.
Check on google for the manufacturer and their web site and purchase it directly.
Its less risky than 2nd hand units ,
my laptop has the same problem like this. i tried to buy the same inverter but i couldn’t find any. can i just use inverters from different laptops? could it be compatible with my laptop’s screen?
@balventray i can see the the whole thing if i have light pointing directly to it but when i dont hav eany light i dont see it at all
@MedarisDaniel the BACK light is what makes he display visible .The invertor is what powers this light .If the invertor is faulty you can see a faint image on the screen
@cisco760ca check that the display is working by connecting to an external monitor.Does the display stay up then check that the connection on the invertor are correctly connected and seated .I these are okay then the invertor may be faulty if you bought 2nd hand.
I think i have this
but is a black light invertor means that u can barely see when ur up close or have a bright light?
+that sucks i just bought the inverter on my hp and it still now and then do the same … did i buy a defected inverter ?
@balventray oh thanks but its not the motherboard for sure and i doubt its the inverter because i can tell that there is electricity going through…so im just going to get a new laptop and save me the hassle, thanks anyways.
@balventray how do i tell if its the inverter or the backlight that isn’t working?
@hahashithaha the invertor is the circuit that sits underneath or under the LCD screen this powers the back light . The back light is the ” cold light ” that resides in the screen it self so the display is made visible and cannot be seen unless you take the LCD screen apart. Think of it as the slide show projector lamp , when you put a slide infront of the lamp it will project on to the screen in front. The invertor is the power source to light the lamp.
wats the difference between the inverter and backlight, cuz my stuff only shows up on an external monitor
I normally try changing invertor to verify if its the back light or the invertor is faulty .
Check first if the laptop mother board is still working by connecting to the external monitor.Changing the back light is rather complicated its cheaper to change the screen for the novice.
how can you tell if it’s the inverter or the backlight?
My box of parts are different brands intended for Dell C Latitudes, where they do differ, and there has been screw hole issues, I concur to that end. Ebay is a great source for some of them
Please note folks that the parts are generally ONLY avalable from the manufactures.Cannot use parts from another manufacture as you will find that the holes and connectors do not fit or sit in the laptop properly . You will need to specify the make & model & serial number when you order the parts.
@Anglianeyes Actually, I found it annoying but I did fully take an LCD apart, you must keep the layers together, when you do (companies tape them up on the sides (replace with something safe)
@balventray You can certainly buy backlight assemblies, but putting them in requires dainty work and a matching size req. They DO differ, as do inverters and the flex cables.
I’ve got a box of broken LCD parts from eBay Dells, I can’t find where you’d get the needed repair parts, however, mostly would be bad backlight or broken glass panel section (layer in front, or white plastic reflective section in rear)
Check that the contrast & brightness is not set to zero before you attempt to remove the invertor. There are 2 compenets , the invertor & the back light. If the back light is gone then you need a new screen. The replacement of the invertor is the cheaper option .If you fray or cut the wires when you put the cover back on then you are back to square one. This applies to the majority of the LCD laptops & LCD tv’s .
nice video do this apply to all labtops
i enjoyed watching your videos bal, this one was great, as this is the first time, i have seen a display worked on, and after watching your video, i am now fearless, as you show, anyone, can now, have a go, bearing in mind your safety pointers, well done.
