However the 97 HP fried pretty easily and my grandma’s old Dell is still sitting in the basement….weird.
But yes Dells do have problems. I remember I was on the computer and heard two weird scratch-beep noises and it just turned off. Next time it was turned on the fans sounded like airplanes.

The HP is 97 and the Dell is 04. I’ve heard that Dell motherboards fry and they have bad hard drives. You might want to throw in bad memory sticks because my parent’s Dell PC BSoDs if you do a task that takes a lot of memory immediately after boot.

no actually. i have an 05 hp pavillion laptop thats done fine for me so far. and a pc i built myself last year

You used old Dells and HPs? I have.
The Win98 dell my grandma has is still working. However the Win95 HP my parents used to own died a slow death, starting in 00.
Amazingly though, the hard drive that was put into my grandma’s dell with WinXP died (but she got a new hard drive into the PC) while the older hard drive in the old PC is still working (I think…).

Heck yeah HP sucks! that is why I have had two Dell laptops over 3 years. Unfortunately, between the two of them I only had a usable laptop for six months total. As a full time student, that just doesn’t work for me. Their inherent design flaws kept causing the motherboards and hard drives to burn up.
I now have a Macbook and it has been trouble free for 15 months so far.
