daanberg.net – Daan Berg shows you the easy steps needed to get Stereo Mix back in Windows 7. Stereo Mix (or Mono Mix, depending on your sound card) allows you to record all sounds you hear through your computer speakers. This is very useful for recording pieces of audio from videos, or for podcasting. ==== NOTE This only works with Realtek sound chips and cards. It might work with others (Intel sometimes works) but there’s no guarantee. ALL Realtek AC’97 and HD audio systems work with this method in Windows 7. DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVERS FROM MANUFACTURER, LET WINDOWS 7 FIND THE BEST DRIVERS.

@alpeyMATE Thank you!!! You just fixed my problem

daanbrg

@FischKopfD I didn’t say that the Realtek HD/HDA audio drivers NEVER work. They USUALLY don’t work. Congratulations, you’ve got a sound card with drivers which were actually written RIGHT.
Not my problem, not my fault.

FischKopfD

FAIL

i’m using realtek hd audio drivers and I DO have stereo mix.

daanbrg

@theyellowairplane Okay Sean, listen up: You go and make a video.

theyellowairplane

WOW YOR VIDEO ON RIGHT CLICKING AND ACTIVATING IS SO MUCH MORE HELPFULL THAN THE OTHER 500 ONES OUT THERE OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

alpeyMATE

you cant have stereo mix and your microphone enabled at the same time those with problems you have to select stereo mix as your input instead of your mic.

daanbrg

@Windows446 Read the other comments I wrote around here.

Windows446

This doesn’t work. Please help.

daanbrg

Dear @ikcoil01 A.K.A. anonymous internet troll who is too scared to make his/her own videos,
As you can see by the numerous other people of which I have answered comments, Stereo Mix is not guaranteed to work in Windows 7. Follow the instructions in the video carefully. If it does not work, relate to the comments with which I responded to people having the same problem as you do.

If that does not work, your sound card does not have appropriate drivers for Windows 7.

Now go and make a video.

ikcoil01

fug u dude this cheap way of gettting fucking views every one knows this tell us how to get stereo mix without it being shown in with show disable check mf biach

CrusadersRage

There is a tutorial that shows this in 30 seconds, without words or explanation.
Highly suggest you get to the point. Decent video in general.

daanbrg

@xxandyxx300 Try again. If it still doesn’t work, try the Realtek drivers as a last resort. If they do not help or only mess it up further, remove the device via Hardware Manager (find it in the Control Panel) and reboot. It’ll then restore the original driver.

xxandyxx300

it still dosnt show after i do that please help?

daanbrg

@Zionoxis Oh yes, that’s a very dreaded error…
What you can try is going back to the Recording Devices-window, click Stereo-mix, click Preferences (button in down-right corner of window), click tab “Advanced” and make sure the sample frequency and bitdepth is set to the following:

2-channel, 16-bits, 48000 Hz (DVD-quality)

If this doesn’t help, try using different recording software.

Zionoxis

Alright, I have enabled stereo mix for my computer. Now I try to record using Audacity, and I get an error, “Error opening sound device. Please check frame rate….” and a few other things.

How do I get this to work?

daanbrg

@PynkPuSsiCat Windows will do it for you. Do not use the drivers from Realtek itself, as they are not written for Windows 7.

PynkPuSsiCat

where can i download realtek?

daanbrg

@LegendenFraFyn NO! Do NOT use the Realtek drivers from their website, as they are not Windows 7 compatible (even when it says so on the website). Uninstall the Realtek driver and remove the device in Device Manager (you can find it somewhere in the Control Panel) and reboot. Win 7 will then install it’s own, adapted driver, signed by Microsoft. That’s the correct one.
If this doesn’t work, then your sound card is either too old or a bit cheap, sorry.

LegendenFraFyn

@daanbrg Well i do have realtek hd audio and i also tried downloading drivers from their site. It just doesn’t work :/

CheddarHead

@LegendenFraFyn just try to install realtek“s driver and try if you get it working that way..

daanbrg

@LegendenFraFyn Then your sound card probably doesn’t have a stereo mix driver available for Windows 7.

LegendenFraFyn

Great video. My problem is, though, that WIn7 says that the drivers are updated even though i can’t see stereo mix.

dyer

i was searching for a friend whos having a problem with this.. just wanted to say.. i use the latest HD drivers from realteks website and stereo mix works fine!

Wanna say something?
