My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5100 and the computer comes on and works great for awhile then it goes blank and if you close the cover then open it the screen comes back on temporarily then goes blank once more. This happened once before after my cat got on it.

@royalsteven Try a Bios update. Refer to Google / manufacturer’s website as to how to create a boot disk/usb and instructions on how to restore it. The laptop is not a lost cause, unless it has been mistreated.

royalsteven

I think it is the graphic card too probably. Thanks for your advice, I send it too Acer to have a look at it.

balluxen1

@royalsteven its probably the graphics card. try pulling out all the cords and then hold down the power button for 30 seconds while its powered down and then release. if this works then the laptop probably has a “timer” for when it will truly break

I start my labtop, I hear the noises (fan and all) but I get only a black screen. Pushing buttons won’t show anything either. It just doesn’t start. What could this be? Thanks for your help.

What are the main ways you can tell you have a virus on your laptop? I know everything slows down and stuff but what else? If some one could answer it would be appreciated! Thanks

I have a problem with my laptop. It turns on, but nothing is showing on the screen. I do have RAM in the laptop. So what do you think is causing this issue?

sosoknocked

@SuperPuffPuff i have acer aspire 7720-6208 and what i did was uninstall one of the graphic cards, if you go to your control pannel and into your device manager files you will see display adapter click it and you will find 2 maybe if there is 2 uninstall one and it will say will you like to restart your computer now or later? restart right away to get onto it ( this is for safe mode)

TheRealDariyan

same computer as u dude and i have brand new ram, guess what still nothing

I have a Acer Aspire 5515 and the screen looks fine and all but when I turn it on all I can hear is the fan run for a little while and then stops and nothing else lights up other than the power and battery lights. Whats up with that?

chrizbiz

My lifebook c 1320d screen works until the booting is done, then after 19 secs the screen goes almost black, the desktop hards shows. I tried removing battery, powerplug and pressing the powerbutton for 60 secs to remove accumulated charge. Still doesn’ work. I might add, that this happened after I practiced how to add more ram. I can’t see how it could be hardware failure as the screen works fine for more than a minute while booting. SUGGESTIONS MOST WELCOME

I just wanted to thank you so much for all the tips, My compaq presario did this twice today and the first time i finally got it working again but this second time I couldn’t. I used my cell phone to search some troubleshooting after I tried everything I could think of, (and my laptop’s internal battery has also been broken for a few weeks), I figured the hard drive and battery had completely crashed because I hadnt replaced the battery, but the open at a 30 degree angle fixed it! I could hug you!

Wanna say something?
