Last time that happend again I got frozen screen like if you press CTRL+ALT+F2 but I could not do anything. It is CTRL+ALT+F7, if you want gnome back.

@dkspook My mic works! :)
Go to Sound Preferences > Input tab > Connector: chose Mic 2. It should work now. Make sure that is not on mute at Input volume.

@eMarek11 Maybe its heat issue. That would require professional service. Or it is a major drive issue but there are to many reasons for a black screen…

My mic does not work too. I did not know until now. It is not a big problem for, because I do not chat much. But I had some problems with speakers. I changed some lines of code in Ubuntu and now it is ok.

The annoying thing at my 5310m is… I do not even know if is software or hardware bug. When I plug off the power I get black frozen screen with mouse on it. But this does not happen always. If the notebook is on longer time, then almost for sure I will get black screen and I have to reboot.

@eMarek11 Nope – but there are 2 other odd things:

– The internal mic won’t work. At least I can’t get it to work in Ubuntu 9.10

- Sometimes if I close the lid while running on battery, the fan will go ape when I open it again. The fan wil run at full power and keep doing so until I reboot. I have no idea why.

Do you have any problems in Ubuntu, when you plug off the power and continue working on battery power?

Well it depends you see if you do the same basic things surf the web chat do homework you mostly wont feel a difference. Another factor to kick in is if you are using still xp than you wont noticed much with the duo core 3.0 now vista you might notice an improvement. The only way you will feel a differences is when you use photoshop or a gaming computer something to push your computer.

Wanna say something?
