You just need a little good old fashioned File I/O

Here's a code snippet that will read the whole file into a string you can then just print out.

Jarrod, Google calendar is certainly worthwhile. I set my class calendars up here, enrol all my students as members and they then get any reminders sent to them automatically. At the start of the unit I set reminders for submission of homework tasks and assessment. Google calendar has the added advantage that it can be imported / synced into any other calendar application. My students sync it to iPhone, Outlook, Sunbird, Lightning, iCal and many others.

I've also set my department calendars here, and teaching teams get timely reminders such as units finishing and tasks to be completed. Automation, gotta love it.
