actually you can… you just click on the top screen and screen will display a portrait keys for SMS

look good ??!!! sry my friend i think japanese phones rock i and i think the looks is the worst thing i have ever seen in them i mean tall flip phones i think thats hard to hold

japanese phones doesn’t rock they just look good. n97 is great but it’s pretty expensive i guess.

same OS but different functionality

dude it will obviously have portrait mode. go to mobile-review and check out the s60v5 os review. This has the same OS as 5800 and it has portrait alphanumeric or mini qwerty or handwriting entry. and also, alphanumeric has t9 support too, it is definitely there in n97 as its same like 5800, both are symbian s60v5 os. hope that cleared your doubt!

I just hope this would not be the final version when they release on May or June of this year. The nokia people including Axel Meyer must consider additional design like typing SMS, MMS, emails in a Portrait Mode thru softtouch screen like the one in the Landscape mode.

Im comfortable in input message (SMS) thru portrait mode. Im searching to all the youtube adds of N97 “NO ONE SHOWS HOW TO INPUT SMS IN A PORTRAIT MODE ?!!”. Is N97 has no function softouch entry in a “PORTRAIT MODE”. Im used in typing SMS holding in one hand thru one thumb. And if i have to send a simple message alone do i have to slide to open querty pad just to input a short message. This is crazy! Why can’t go directly in default portrait mode. 2nd thought of buyin N97 perhaps Omnia HD
