Hey tom!, i have the same laptop but with different specs, i went with the dual core, i noticed a huge preformance improvment when installing windows 7 x64, had no issues with drivers at all, also it runs ubuntu linux x64 very well, also no issues with drivers at all. I do have to say I HATE the touch pad with all my life, why i use my wacom tablet =]
