This phone sucks in a variety of annoying ways. I’m on my second one (warranty replacement.)
1- It constantly drops calls. If it drops the signal from one tower, you have to shut it off and turn it back on before it will pick up a new signal. If you do not notice this signal drop, no one will be able to call you until you restart the phone
2- Good luck trying to connect it to your computer via USB. The bloated Sony software works every now and then at best.
3- Music randomly plays from the phone.
4- The screen gets goo’ed up at an alarming rate and is impossible to see in any sort of sunlight.
5- Sony Ericsson support is a waste.
6- If you want to use the Walkman feature, you will need to get an adapter to use a 3.5mm plug.
At this point, I am convinced a tin can with a string would be a better option.

Does anyone know how to set the phone from getting on the internet on the W518a?

I took my Walkman to college 10 yrs ago and never used it once. I'd have been laughed at by all my friends for brandishing a walkman, even in 1999! 4 years later, when Hurricane Isabel rolled by and I lost all power, the trusted Sony with the inbuilt radio kept me company for a week! Of course, after that, I never touched it until I gifted it to the Salvation army on my return home. Those things were super reliable!

Yes they are! Thanks for commenting :)

@double b
I have had this phone for over a year and here is what I have to say to your complaints:
1. The only time I’ve had a problem with anything like that was when my sim card started going to crap, got a new sim (free of charge) and haven’t had the problem since.
2. never had a single problem with getting my phone to work via usb on windows xp, vista or 7. the sony software always works…everytime and I connect it everyday.
3. had this problem a couple of times but it was because i was listening to something using the walkman mode and then closed the phone without exiting walkman. if you shut the phone when the walkman mode is on it stays on and pressing the keys (usually volume) on the side the music will start playing again.
4. maybe you should wash your face more often or stop wearing so much make up.
5. haven’t needed, had 5 sony ericsson phones over the last 8 years or so and i’ve never had to contact support.
6. wireless headset works to, but i agree needing an adapter for head phones sucks.
