After coming to the realization that I wasn’t going to find a good video review for the G50vt X5 laptop, I decided to make one myself. I hope you enjoy it! The song at the end of the video is called “Devils and Witches” by Joel Michael. It has been used with permission from the composer. The album “Devils and Witches” is now available on iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody.

Nice job man I have had mine for awhile now and I love it. I did not know that the VC could not be upgraded but like you said there is enough there to last for a while. The only thing that I hate about this computer is the dang lights on the back they are stupid that have not use what so ever. I like that it came with a 2 year LOJACK plan and I love the mini display that tells the battery, cpu and memory usage. I like to put goofy little messages on there also. Like I said good job on the vid

@Theje ok man thanx! update on the temperatures: it got up to 115C last night while playing just cause 2. ive decided to take apart the thing and blow pressurized air to clear up the vents and the air. i might also attempt to replace the thermal compound. (if only i knew what that was)
thanx again for the insight!

Theje

@calfan3 The G50vt will still be able to handle any game. Newer games like StarCraft 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have to have some graphics reduced, but it won’t be hard to find a comfortable detail setting.

@Theje okay thanks for the advice. i will purchase a good cooling pad then. hey, could you tell me what are some good modern games the g50vt x5 can handle? i know it can handle crysis, just cause2, and metro 2033 on normal. thanx man!

p.s. your review is what made me get this in the first place! great lappy!!!

Theje

@calfan3 Normal temperatures under load can be anywhere from 85 to 95 degrees. As I recall, the G50vt gets too hot anyway, so the temps aren’t necessarily something to be concerned about, but always use a cooling pad with the G50vt.

@Theje HI, i have a question, my g50vt the videocard reaches 107C when playing videogames(CRYSIS), is this normal?!! it is superhot! i bought the ;laptop used from ebay. it has windows vista service pack 2, i have latest driver from nvidia. p.s. my cpu is overclocked to 2.4 ghz. my gpu is also overclocked, but not by much. even without any overclock, my gpu is still at around 98C

@GigantGatlingGun The G50vt is 100 percent compatible with Windows 7. All of the drivers should install automatically without you drivers disc, but you’ll want to update the video drivers straight from nvidia.

GigantGatlingGun

hey people ima get this laptop but its coming with windows vista and i hear that windows 7 runs better and stuff… is the laptop compatible with 7? O_O can i like install it later on O_O thank you

@Theje No, my screen’s unique. It has a connection problem somewhere that I can’t find, so it gets all screwy until I shake it back to normal. Hopefully a PC shop can fix it when I get back to Canada, since it gets worse every day….

Theje

@clanpsi the LCD on the G50vt always did the same, but the drivers only worked in Vista, and I never liked Vista so naturally the little guy lost all his usefulness. When I found a program for XP that could manipulate that screen, the easiest thing to do was turn it off.

clanpsi

I don’t understand what happened with the mini-LCD screen. The one on the G1S was freakin’ awesome, and gave useful information (like a clock). I guess I can’t complain that much, though, since I got my G50vt for free after my G1S died…
